11/22/2016 - Hell or High Water (2016) - 7+/10

Beautiful (Sky swallows the land and the people in it) and soulful. Reminiscent most recently of No Country for Old Men, in a lighter and more streamlined way. Tight script with invested and sharp acting by all involved.

A great encapsulation of modern middle American problems examined through the lens of a western-heist. Intelligent, fraternal, and distinctly enjoyable.

There is an existential hollowness that haunts every inch of this tale, from the sorrowful & serene landscapes to the self-loathing loneliness of the end, no matter who "won or lost". There is depth, even in this most straightforward of dramas. Really good stuff.
