10/30/17 The Babysitter (2017) - 3/10

So stylized and over- the-top, even using it as a time waster felt too good. It was not quirky enough to be special, nor funny enough to be justified. It played at being the tropey teen horror lark, but with a clever twist, but it lacked the cleverness or charm to prosper for more than the random moment or two.

It had a few moments of humor and interesting developments, but usually it barely emerged from the “uninteresting” and “try hard” boxes. I wanted to give it points for novelty and hinting at amusement, but even those elements are being squeezed from already sun-dried comedic fruit.
