9/19/23 - Outlaw Johnny Black - 4+/5-/10

Ideologically fun and has some delightful moments, but this pastiche of westerns with its blacksploitation twinge is simply not as clever, as winking, nor as enjoyable as Black Dynamite.

A bit too long, perhaps a bit heavy with plot when that wasn’t anticipated, and lacking the real ‘lol’ moments that made the previous iteration a pleasure.

White is good here in front of the camera but had few inspired moments behind it.

Even for a poking at racism exploitationshmozz, the Indian gags and casting were unseemly, the casting man for woman unpleasant, and the spectre of “black rape” tawdry. It felt low hanging without being effectual or enjoyable.
